Cross Country

The Varsity Cross Country team is currently ranked 2nd in the state and remains undefeated in league competition.  Highlights have been winning MHC Relays and MHC/PIL Cross-Over Meet. Next for the Blues Harriers will be a double dual meet against Barlow HS and Reynolds HS at Westmoreland Park in SE Portland on October 14, followed by another meet at Westmoreland Park on October 21. SMA will be the host school for this meet, racing Central Catholic and Centennial HS.  For more information about this meet please click here. The MHC District meet hosted by Sandy HS is on October 28, followed by the OSAA state cross country championships held at Lane Community College on November 7. For more information on the state meet, please click here.

Soccer

The Varsity Soccer team currently has a record of 3-3-1 and 2-0 in Mt. Hood Conference standings. The team has been playing well; however, key injuries have left the Blues with less fire power. Head coach Rob Warnell is confident that the team will get through this tough time and be a full strength by the time the OSAA play-off start. Coming up are key matches against Hood River Valley HS on 10/13, Reynolds HS on 10/15 and Central Catholic on 10/20 at Delta Park.  Come out and support the team as they fight for the best record in the MHC.

Volleyball

The volleyball team is fighting for the top spot in the Mt. Hood Conference. The MHC is the toughest league in Oregon, but the team has shown that they could make some noise come playoff time. SMA knocked off a highly ranked Barlow team twice this season. Currently the Blues have a 6-3 league record and still have a very tough match against Gresham HS on 10/20. The team will also be competing at the Clearwater Classic in Bend on October 17. Come out and cheer on the Blues as they fight for the top play-off spot in the tough MHC. For more playoff information, please click here.

AP Studio Art students enjoyed a self led tour at the Portland Art Museum on Tuesday, September 29.  They sketched and drew in the galleries.  The main purpose of the field trip was to gain knowledge of the development of modern art with a tour of the Jubitz Center for Modern and Contemporary Art which features a chronological display of artwork from Impressionism to today.

Scholastic Art Awards is going digital! There is a new entry procedure for submitting artwork for the Regional Scholastic Awards this year.  All entries must be photographed and images, along with entry fee and completed form, given to Kathy Mitchell in G-2 on or before December 11.
